1.
Sorry
to report that Dr. B. Skelton (secr/treasurer) is not able to come due to illness.
2.
The Minutes of the eleventh Council Meeting held on 12th August, 2003
in Broome Australia was confirmed.
3.
AsCA'04
Professor Ian
Williams briefly reported that there are roughly 300+
registered for the conference. A total of ~200 posters
could be displayed through the whole conference. Exhibitions are also in the
same hall, everything went smoothly, the budget will
be positive. Pan-analytical; Rigaku; Bruker-Nonius
and Mar-research and others all contribute great deal to this conference. One
difficult is the absence of the author in posters.
4.
Future meetings
CrSJ/AsCA06 will be held in Japan in a joint
conference with the Crystallographic Society of Japan at Tsukuba international congress center in Nov. 2006. Prof. Oshumi gave a report on this.
Prof. Chang proposed the site of AsCA07 in Taiwan and is accepted.
IUCrXXI will be held in Osaka in 2008.
Possible venue for the joint national meeting and AsCA09 is China, Prof.
J.H. Lin promised to discuss the matter with colleagues.
5.
Financial Report: Prof.
Syd Hall reported on the situation of Membership
payments from Category II and III member countries as at July 2004. A summary is appended
to the minutes. He also briefed the
accounts of the Association held in Japan and Australia. The increase in the
funds held in Perth is due largely to the profit (AUD$7005) returned by the
organizers of the AsCA meeting held in Broome. The current account balances are as follows,
with July 2002 figures shown in parenthesis:
The Council accepted
the Financial Report.
6.
The election of the next
council executives:
Prof. M. Vijayan is elected
to be the president
Dr M. Guss is elected to be the vice president
Prof. I. Williams is elected to be the secretary/treasurer
7.
Other Business:
Yu Wang mentioned that a webpage of AsCA should be established and
linked to the IUCr webpage. There were an old edition
created by Prof. J. Simpson, it may be helpful working from that version.
President Duax strongly suggest
that all the IUCr member countries should make their nominations toward IUCr
executive and commission members.
The
Meeting closed at 3:00 pm.
